A lot of confusion lies around SEO and it’s this confusion that enables some businesses to charge extortionate prices for consultancy. But what is SEO? SEO stands for search engine optimisation and is the process of improving a website’s visibility in a search engine. To clarify take the following example;
It’s two days before Christmas and you’ve parked in a local shopping centre that’s full to the brim with shoppers. You finish up and walk back outside into the car park. You look for your car among the hundreds of other cars and finally identify it from some attributes such as colour, make and model.
Now think of a search engine. It uses what are called “crawlers” like you use your eyes. These crawlers search through millions of websites to find the one with the relevant attributes to appear on Google, Yahoo, Bing. The attributes for websites are different but one of the most significant ones from an SEO point of view is keywords.
Why Use Keywords? Simple, so your site can be found by your target market and you can generate traffic and conversions. Over the coming days we’ll go through an SEO check list to assist you in optimising your site. Happy Friday!!
