So yesterday it was confirmed that Instagram have agreed to sell their app to Facebook for an outrageous $1b just a week after Draw Something sold for $180m.
The app industry has never looked so attractive and lucrative but is this new entry to the market that has been launched at Edinburgh’s Science Festival on to a winner?
The apps called “DreamOn” and it aims to be the world’s largest ever dream experiment. It monitors the user twenty minutes before the want to wake up and plays a sound “designed to invoke pleasant scenarios, such as lying by the sea or walking in the countryside” according to BBC News.
It will then sound a low alarm to gently wake the person. Once fully awake the user has to record their dream in the “dream-catcher” database.
The developer of the project, Prof Richard Wiseman, said “Getting a good night’s sleep and having pleasant dreams boosts people’s productivity, and is essential for their psychological and physical well being.
If it makes it any easier to get up on a Monday morning we’ll give it a shot.
